Residential School for the Deft & Blind
A new residential school for the deft and blind has been established very recently in Kumbukkana, in Monaragala District which is a most remote area in Sri Lanka.
Location:- It is located in a 2acers land block 7 km from Monaragala in Wellawaya road; 250 km from Colombo.
Staff:-Although it is registered under the Department of social services the staff is working voluntarily ; they are not paid.
Necessary steps have been taken to register this school under the Ministry of education-Sri Lanka. When it is registered it will become an assistant school status which some of the staff are paid by the government depending on the number of students.
At present there are 23 blind students and 25 deft students are having residential facilities. Two buildings are under construction with the assistance of local authorities and forign institutions. When these are constructed more deft and blind students would be accomadated.
Necessities:- To improve the school more and more local and forign assistance is needed; specially buildings, accommodation and following facilities are very essential.

3. Cassette recorders and cassettes
4. Computeres ( with special accessories for deft and blinds)
5. Musical instruments
6. Sports equipments
